LSEG Launches Digital Markets Infrastructure Platform, Executes First Private Funds Transaction

LSEG Launches Digital Markets Infrastructure Platform

London, September 16, 2025

The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has officially launched its Digital Markets Infrastructure (DMI) platform for private funds and successfully completed its first transaction, marking a major milestone in the digitisation of global financial markets.

The DMI platform, developed in collaboration with Microsoft and built on Microsoft Azure, is designed to bring blockchain-powered efficiencies to the entire asset lifecycle — from issuance and tokenisation to distribution, settlement, and servicing. LSEG says the system has been created with interoperability in mind, bridging both distributed ledger technology (DLT) solutions and traditional financial infrastructures.

First Clients Onboarded

The inaugural transaction on the platform was executed with MembersCap, acting as General Partner of MCM Fund 1, with Archax serving as nominee for a major Web3 foundation. EJF Capital has also been admitted as an early adopter, with selected funds expected to be listed shortly.

By integrating with LSEG’s Workspace, private funds on DMI will become more discoverable to institutional investors. This integration allows General Partners to connect at scale with a broader investor base, while professional investors can more easily analyse and access private market opportunities that were previously difficult to reach.

Driving Innovation in Private Markets

“Private markets today are burdened with inefficiencies,” said Dr. Darko Hajdukovic, Head of Digital Markets Infrastructure at LSEG. “With DMI, we are committed to enhancing access, distribution, and liquidity by providing an interoperable and regulated infrastructure that serves both digitally-native and traditional assets. The successful onboarding of our first clients and this transaction underscores the demand for such an end-to-end solution.”

The initiative aligns with LSEG’s ambition to become the first global exchange group supporting customers across the full funding continuum. The DMI platform complements other efforts such as the Private Securities Market initiative, with expansion to further asset classes planned in the coming months.

A Strategic Collaboration with Microsoft

Microsoft, which provides the underlying Azure cloud framework, emphasised the collaboration as a case study in transforming financial infrastructure.
“This is a powerful example of innovation driving our strategic partnership,” said Bill Borden, Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Financial Services at Microsoft. “Together, we are reshaping the future of finance to help customers unlock new opportunities and drive meaningful change.”

Summary

LSEG’s DMI platform seeks to position the exchange group as a convenor of global digital markets, accelerating adoption of blockchain-enabled processes within a trusted, regulated framework. By targeting private funds first, the group aims to address an area of finance that has historically lacked transparency and accessibility, before expanding into broader asset classes.
